Youtube Video: "SIMPLE TRICKS TO MAKE YOUR LANDSCAPE TREES LOOK REALISTIC"
🎨 The Story Behind This Painting
Why I Painted Adaminaby Plains:
The rolling hills and scattered trees of this NSW landscape gave me the perfect opportunity to demonstrate how linear, tonal, and temperature perspective work together. What you see in the tutorial video isn't just a lesson - it's the result of decades of experimenting with atmospheric depth.
I painted this piece specifically to show you that realistic trees aren't about complicated techniques, but more about understanding three simple tricks that transform flat landscapes into dimensional scenes.
The Process:
Paper: Arches Cold-Pressed
Palette: Just three colours - French Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna, and Raw Sienna Light.
A simple triad will make the three principles/techniques much easier!
Technique: Every brushstroke demonstrates the perspective principles from the tutorial - from the cool, pale background trees to the warmer detailed foreground
What Makes This Original Special:
This isn't just a painting - it's a teaching piece. Every tree placement, every tonal shift, every temperature change was intentional. When you own this original, you're holding the exact artwork that's helping thousands of watercolour artists master realistic landscapes.
The texture you see on the shed? That's the Aquapasto technique I shared as a bonus in the tutorial. It's even more striking in person.
