“Waratah number three” by Anica Amphlett is an original watercolour painting using quality watercolour on Saunders Waterford 300gsm paper. The painting measures 27cm x 37cm and is unframed.
This is the third painting in my series of waratahs this Spring, a single waratah bloom just from a different angle. All angles are beautiful, so there are many to choose from. I am making the most of my beautiful fresh waratahs whilst I can, as nothing lasts forever, especially cut flowers. This year I am really taking notice of their life cycle and will be painting different stages of this beautiful bloom in this current series.
There are several species of waratahs and I believe this is the ‘Braidwood Brilliant’ with its smooth-edged leaves. It is a hybrid of the main Telopea speciosissima ideal to be grown in gardens. More broadly, all waratahs fit into the larger Protea family.

I love to paint all things to do with nature, especially flowers, and continually check my work to see if it connects with my soul, as I hope it will connect with yours! My aim is for my paintings to bring you joy!
