Old Adaminaby by Anica Amphlett is an original watercolour painting, 37cm x 27cm, and is unframed.
On our recent trip through the Snowy Mountains, we stopped at Old Adaminaby and I was thrilled to learn of its vast history. The lake in the painting is Lake Eucumbene and under it lie the remains of the old town of Adaminaby. The town was relocated to higher ground in the 1950s making way for further construction of the great Snowy Mountain Hydro Scheme.
There were only four buildings left of the old township, with the old school being one of them. When water levels are lower in the dam you can see some of the old foundations and remains. That old tree has seen a thing or two, don't you think! A fascinating place to visit.
