This painting of a single spent Octa Donna Protea is painted on a black background with watercolour and gouache on Canson 300gsm paper.
Framed in a 2cm deep smooth black frame, glass, an acid-free ivory mount, foam-board backing and ready to hang.
A certificate of authenticity is adhered to the back.I titled it an Octa-Donna, as its spent long petals remind me of octopus tentacles!
Proteas are beautiful flowers when they are fresh and also when spent or dried. They enter their second stage of life when their fresh pinks and greens are surpassed by neutral earthy tones and will now last indefinitely needing no further nurturing.
There are three in this mini series, and if you wish for them to hang together in your home, you can and save a bit as well!
I love to paint all things to do with nature, birds, animals, flowers, landscapes and seascapes. I strive to capture that "zing" and continually stop-start waiting for that moment when my work makes that elusive connection with my soul, and then... hope it will touch you too!
